Air Fryer Nutella Pop Tarts

February 2, 2022

These homemade Air Fryer Nutella Pop Tarts are a fun breakfast treat that you can make for your kids. If your kids love pop tarts, then they will love making this easy at home version in the air fryer!

How to make pop tarts in the air fryer

Air Fryer Nutella Pop Tarts

My kids love pop tarts, just like most kids! I buy them on occasion, but I know that they aren’t the healthiest breakfast food. I love experimenting with making homemade versions of my kid’s favorite grocery store foods and we have had success with so many things! They love these crunchy breaded chicken tenders, these super cute air fryer donuts, and homemade golden oreos!

Homemade Pop Tarts

Homemade is always better, right? And more fun, of course! My kids love helping make their food and I think it is so important for them to see what goes into their food. Kids always eat better if they help with the process. I love this recipe because they can help with so many things! My little likes spreading the nutella and my older daughter likes crimping the pastry edges. I purchased these kid friendly knives on Amazon last Christmas and they are great for your little helpers!

Filling for Homemade Pop Tarts

My daughter loves nutella, but you can certainly swap out the filling for any other nut butter spread or you could use a small smear of pie filling. You could do cherry or apple pie filling for a fun dessert like pop tart. You could even fill these homemade pop tarts with jam or jelly to really replicate the classic store bought pop tart! Strawberry jam or preserves would be delicious!

Easy Nutella Stuffed Pop Tarts

You could easily make these s’mores pop tarts by omitting the nutella and using chocolate chips and marshmallows instead and doing a sprinkle of graham cracker on top! My daughters love the s’mores version and they are a fun treat, especially in the summer.

Ingredients for Homemade Pop Tarts

The ingredients are really simple, Here is all you need!

  • pie crust
  • nutella
  • vanilla
  • powdered sugar
  • milk
  • egg
  • sprinkles

The instructions then are very easy. You cut the pie crust into rectangles, add your filling, place another pie crust on top, and then press edges using a fork to crimp. You will use the egg to make an egg wash that you will brush over the tops. The egg wash makes the dough golden brown and beautiful!

Tip for making Homemade Air Fryer Pop Tarts

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also bake these in the oven for 15-18 minutes, at 350 degrees, or until golden brown.

You can store cooked pop tarts in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
