These pizza stuffed meatballs are so versatile! You can serve them all on their own, over pasta, stuffed in bread for a meatball sandwich, or my personal favorite, over risotto! We don’t have risotto often at home, but the tender rice soaks up the sauce from these meatballs so well. It is the perfect creamy base for this recipe.
The homemade pizza marinara sauce in this recipe is so unique. It is a mixture of pizza sauce and marinara sauce, with pepperoni added in! The pepperoni adds so much flavor to the sauce and takes it from good to great!

Meatballs are my favorite thing to do with a pound of ground beef and I know you won’t be disappointed if you make these Pizza Stuffed Meatballs for dinner!
Pizza Stuffed Meatballs
Mozzarella and Pepperoni are stuffed into a delicious meatball then simmered in an amazing pizza marinara sauce!
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2/3 cup mini pepperoni
- 1/4 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 egg egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasonings
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 4 oz. mozzarella cheese cubed
- For the sauce
- 2 cups of your favorite marinara sauce
- 1 15 oz can fire roasted tomatoes
- 1/3 cup mini pepperonis
- salt and pepper to taste
- freshly shaved parmesan
- minced basil
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
In a large bowl, add all meatball ingredients except for the mozzarella cheese. Mix well with hands until well combined.
Grab 2 heaping tbsp. of meat and flatten in hand. Add mozzarella cube in the middle of the meat. Fold meat mixture around the cheese cube until completely hidden and roll into a ball.
Place on a baking sheet.
Repeat with remaining meat. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
While meatballs bake, preheat a saucepan to medium heat. Add marinara, fire roasted tomatoes, pepperoni, and seasonings. Let simmer while meatballs cook.
When meatballs are done in the oven, add to the sauce. Let simmer until ready to serve.
Garnish with freshly shaved parmesan and fresh basil.
