This Pesto Meatball Sliders recipe is the ultimate meatball hoagie! It starts with the best meatball recipe, and is then sandwiched between two types of sauce and two types of cheese! This is definitely the best slider recipe ever! Easy Meatball Sliders with Pesto

These Pesto Meatball Sliders have to be on your weekend tailgate menus! They are the ultimate football watching sandwich!

While I hate to see summer go, I love when the weather cools down because it means football season! There is nothing better than Sundays spent on the couch watching games and cheering on our favorite teams. While I love football, I also love football food! Cheesy dips, flavorful sandwiches, and spicy wings are some of my favorites! These Pesto Meatball Sliders are perfect for holding in one hand, while watching the game! Everyone knows that football is almost as much about the party as it is the game, so you have to serve the most delicious food possible! Meatball Hoagies with Pesto

These aren’t your average meatball slider sandwich! There are two layers of cheese and two types of sauce! While I love a classic meatball hoagie, I wanted to kick the flavors up a notch in this recipe. I used both chunky marinara and flavorful pesto to really take these sandwiches over the top! And what is a meatball slider without cheese? I used fresh mozzarella on the bottom and provolone on top. I love all the cheesy goodness it adds! I love to buy full size hoagie rolls and cut into pieces to make slider sized rolls. The slider roll selection is usually limited in stores, so this allows you to have more bread choices! I love Walmart’s white hoagie rolls. They are crusty on the outside and soft on the inside!Pesto Meatball Slider Sandwiches

You can’t have football without a great drink and nothing pairs better with these meatball sliders than Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar. It has been our soda of choice for years now and I love how great it tastes and that you would never know that there is zero sugar! What more do you need on a Sunday than a great football game, delicious food and Coca-Cola® ?Pesto Meatball Sandwiches

Entertaining this football season? Make sure to pick up some Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar and all your tailgating supplies at Walmart! I am LOVING their online ordering service with pick up! I am not kidding guys when I say it is life changing. Taking my six year old and toddler into any grocery store always ends in me sweating, so I am obsessed with the convenience of not even having to get out of my car to get my groceries! I have the app downloaded on my phone so I add items as I think of them throughout the week! You can use the website too!

If you haven’t tried it yet, you must. It saves so much time and I love that I don’t pick up impulse buys or have to bribe buy my kids things to get them to be good in the store 🙂 More time plus more money means I am more relaxed for football watching!

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 9 sliders

Ingredients

  • 9 meatballs Store bought or see recipe in notes
  • 3 hoagie rolls cut into 3s
  • 9 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 9 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce store bought or see recipe in notes
  • 1/4 cup pesto refrigerated tastes best!

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Lay bun bottoms in a casserole dish. Place in the oven and bake for 5 minutes, or until lightly toasted. This helps prevent sogginess. While they cook, smear 1 heaping tsp. of pesto on the inside of the bun tops.

  3. Remove bun bottoms from oven. Lay 1 slice fresh mozzarella on the bottom of each, then put a meatball on, a spoonful of marinara sauce, and a slide of provolone cheese. Put the tops on and smoosh the meatball down a little.

  4. Place in the oven for 5-8 minutes, or until cheese is melted and buns are golden brown.

  5. Serve immediately.
