RiceKrispieCollage

Oh man guys, this is a good one. I was challenged to create a recipe using Rice Krispie Treats, mini marshmallows, and M&M’s, and to be honest, I was stumped at first. I kept thinking over and over, how am I going to make something delicious with all of these products? Alone, they are all delicious, but I couldn’t work out how to make them go well together. I wanted to create an “adult” treat, something that I could snack on during nap time and enjoy all by myself, without toddler hands stealing the goods. I thought of what I liked to snack on and my favorite is always a combination of salty and sweet, and usually involves peanut butter. It’s delicious, and you can fool yourself into thinking it is healthy because of the protein. 🙂

Have you ever had a Fluffer Nutter Sandwich? I haven’t but have heard about them a lot. The basic ingredients are bread, peanut butter, and marshmallow creme. You can even slide a banana in there to dress it up a bit. I am not a big PB&J fan, but PB& Marshmallow, now that’s something I can get down with. Replace the bread with Rice Krispie Treats? Sign me up.

Let me tell you, I ate a whole lotta Rice Krispie Treats when testing this recipe and one thing remained constant, those little guys are delicious. Slap on some peanut butter and melted marshmallow creme, and you have a crave worthy “sandwich.” The crunchy little M&M’s give it a great crunch and add a sweet bite to the salty peanut butter. There are just so many flavors in this, and they work so well together. My initial sandwiches didn’t have the frozen whipped topping and that addition is what makes these so good. I love the cold bite with all of the other flavors. I definitely wouldn’t leave it out.

These Fluffer Nutter Rice Krispie Treat Sandwiches truly make the perfect nap time snack and I have been enjoying them when I get a few moments to myself. They only take seconds to throw together and are the perfect indulgence. What more can you ask for? Something delicious that requires no cooking or a real time investment? That pretty much equals the perfect afternoon pick-me-up! You could share these with your kids too…that is if any are left by the time nap time is over!

Fluffer Nutter Rice Krispie Treat Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 4 Pre-Made Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Treats
  • ½ cup frozen whipped topping
  • ÂĽ cup peanut butter
  • ½ cup JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • ½ tsp. milk
  • ÂĽ cup M&M’s Plain and Peanut Butter or to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice your four Rice Krispie Treats in half lengthwise and then lay flat on a plate or cookie sheet and then set aside.
  2. Mix your frozen whipped topping and peanut butter in a bowl until smooth and equally combined. Press hard with your spoon to break up any of the frozen pieces of the topping. Set aside.
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, combine marshmallows, butter, and milk. Microwave for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir well. Marshmallows will come out all puffed up, but will deflate and be stirrable in a few seconds.
  4. Stir a heaping tbsp. of peanut butter mixture on one half of the RIce Krispie Treat and a tbsp. of marshmallow creme on the other half. Layer with either type of M&M if desired and then put one piece on top of the other to form your sandwich. Enjoy!
