Strawberry and Nutella Cobbler

July 7, 2015

Strawberry and Nutella Cobbler with Easy Cream Biscuits

Let me tell you the story of how one girl ate nearly an entire cobbler in two days. So I had some strawberries in my fridge that needed to be used and nutella left over from a previous recipe, and the two were screaming to be baked together in some chocolatey fruity delightfulness. And of course, that combination can only be made better when topped with crumbly cream biscuit. So I whipped up this cobbler, and I am not exaggerating when I say whipped up, because it was so easy and barely took any time at all. It came out of the oven and I pulled my camera out to take pictures and whomp whomp, it wasn’t working. I was in a panic, not only because my beloved camera wasn’t functioning, but also because I was determined to eat this cobbler while it was still warm.

I rushed to Best Buy, got a new memory card, and was good to go. And after taking pictures, I was happy to find that it was still warm! And absurdly delicious. I mean, I can’t even describe in words what happens when strawberries are baked in nutella. They get all squishy and sweet and rich from the chocolate. And these biscuits. They are so easy and are the perfect amount of crumbly and moist, all at the same time. So I ate a piece and then cut one for my husband. And then I went to bed and dreamed of the cobbler, and maybe had a piece for breakfast the next day with my coffee. And then accidentally ate slivers of it throughout the day. I had no idea I was even eating it until Ryan came home from work and was shocked to find only one piece left. Oops. I couldn’t help it. It is that good.

Strawberry and Nutella Cobbler with Easy Cream Biscuits

This truly may be my favorite dessert. I am normally strictly a chocolate peanut butter dessert girl, but this Strawberry and Nutella Cobbler really takes the cake. These pictures really don’t do it justice because I was in a hurry, so I hope you just take my word for it!

Strawberry and Nutella Cobbler with Easy Cream Biscuits

This is the perfect summer dessert to take to  picnic or cookout. It is easy, will travel well, and doesn’t need to be refrigerated. And forget about the easiness factor, this is just so good that it begs to be made and shared with people.

  • 2 heaping tablespoons. of nutella
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • For the cobbler biscuit topping
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup cream
  • Reserve a small bit of sugar and cream for on top of the biscuits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine strawberries, nutella, cornstarch, sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until strawberries are evenly coated.
  3. Pour mixture into a 9 inch round pie pan.
  4. In another mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Slowly add the cream and whisk until just combined.
  6. Roll out the mixture onto a non stick baking mat and knead one or two times to combine.
  7. Grab a handful of dough (approx 3 tbsp.) and roll into a ball and then gently flatten.
  8. Lay biscuits over the strawberry mixture, having them slightly overlap. These do not have to be perfect.
  9. Spread a small amount of left over cream over the biscuits and then sprinkle with a small amount of sugar.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and the strawberries are bubbling.
  11. Let cool for at least half an hour so that the strawberry juices can firm back up.
  12. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream!

This easy strawberry and nutella cobbler is the perfect combination of sweet fruit, rich nutella, and a creamy, crumbly biscuit!

I think the only thing that could make this better would be rhubarb!! That is a great idea!!

[…] There are so many different versions of fruit cobbler, but I love ones that start with a baking mix. I have tried ones with self-rising flour and ones topped with biscuits, and they are all delicious, but the Bisquick version is my favorite. You get the texture of biscuits, but with the crust baked all throughout. If you love Nutella, you have to try my Strawberry Nutella Cobbler! […]
