A Princess Party for My Favorite Little Girl!

Seriously, didn’t I just share our little girl’s Mickey Mouse Party with you like two days ago? Has it seriously been a year? I still can’t believe it! When asking an almost three year old what type of birthday party they want, you often get a lot of interesting responses. Every time I asked, I was told something different, but many times the responses included princesses, so I decided to go with it. It was much easier to make it princesses in general than to plan a Rapunzel party and be told the day of the party that she wanted Aurora. I loved planning A Princess Party for My Favorite Little Girl this year and I hope this inspires you if you are looking to plan one as well!

Each year I try to make things a little simpler than the year before. Her first birthday party was very involved, with weeks months of planning, decoration making, and cooking. Her second party had a lot of cooking involved, which made me feel super stressed the day of the party. This year I scaled down the menu to just a couple things and didn’t worry about having a “themed” menu.

Even with a simpler menu, we had plenty of food and I think everyone enjoyed it. The Birthday Princess really loved the decorations, and to be honest, it’s a week later, and we still have some of them up! Here are some of my favorite details.

 The top tier was strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream and the bottom was almond cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream made by the fabulous Carrie from Batter Bake Shop. (Check her out on Facebook too!!)

Princess chocolates were made by my Mom using the plastic leftover from a Princess Advent Calendar. A genius idea from my friend Sarah!
 Royal icing cookies made by my Mom and I. Princess cookie cutters from HERE. I will be the first to admit that this was not my finest royal icing performance. Actually, it was probably my worst. But they tasted great and the kids loved them, so oh well!
 Paper Lanterns from Michael’s strung together with fishing line and hung by a Command Hook.
 The foyer was the official “Princess Room” and held the Princess Command Center (DIY Princess Dress Up Storage) and the Princess Accessory Table, which held the favors for all the kids.
 Polka Dot Balloons from HERE and the Princess ones are from Walmart.  We also used these which aren’t pictured, but are still flying high a week later!
 I hung plastic table clothes from Walmart over our pocket doors. I hung the two side pieces by folding the tablecloth in half and then hanging with push pins and then tied them into drapes with ribbon from Michael’s. The top piece is just a tablecloth folded in 1/4 and draped across the top. The flower garland is from The Dollar Tree. These “curtains” were one of my favorite decorations and cost 3 dollars total!
This princess banner was from Etsy and was a printable download.  I strung it using ribbon from Michael’s. I also pictured the Happy Birthday Banner from the same store. I love this banner because it has all the princesses and I am going to reuse it by hanging it in my daughter’s room. I also purchased the invitations from Amy as well.
This table held all the Princess Dress Up Accessories. I had wands, tiaras, rings, princess tattoos, and princess shaped crayons. We had one little Prince with us so his was the blue crown and a spiderman wand. The wands, tattoos, tiaras, and rings came in a set from Amazon.

This table also held cookie wands incase my little princesses and prince got hungry!

The birthday girl wore this crown from Walmart.

Crayons from HERE, Funny thing about these crayons is that everyone thought they were food! If you buy them, remind your guests they are for coloring, not eating!

The tissue paper flower was my most favorite decoration and we actually still have it up. I made the white flower and the rest were purchased from the Dollar Tree. You got two in a set for $1! You can’t make them for that! They were great quality too, although my white one turned out much bigger and fluffier.
