Brown Sugar Cookies with Nutella Frosting

Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup butter softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup Nutella
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Nutella Frosting

  • ¼ cup Nutella
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • Optional Toppings: Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the brown sugar, butter and vanilla using an electric hand mixer
  2. Add the egg and Nutella and mix until combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt with a wooden spoon.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the wet mix. Use the mixer to form the dough. It may take a couple of minutes.
  5. Chill the dough in the fridge for 1 hour , which makes it easier to roll.
  6. After one hour chill time, preheat oven to 350°F
  7. Line a cookie tray with parchment paper and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  8. Roll out the dough to ½ inch thick and cut out cookies into desired shape
  9. Bake for 10-15 minutes, until the bottom is lightly golden brown.
  10. Cool on a wire rack to room temperature before frosting.

  11. Frosting:  Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk to combine until smooth. Frost cookies and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
