Homemade Sweet and Salty Granola

Sweet and Salty Granola is the only granola recipe you will ever need…well of course, unless you love chocolate and peanut butter, then you’ll want this recipe instead 🙂 I have been trying to clean up some things in our life…cleaning products, make up products, and of course, food. I just feel like our house is so full of stuff, and most of that stuff is either unnecessary or just not good for us. Products like store bought granola are just one of those things that I buy because it is convenient, but it is so full of sugar and other junk that we just don’t need in our bodies. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love store bought short cuts, and use them often, but homemade granola is just so easy to make and I need to do it more often!.

Simple Sweet and Salty Homemade Granola

I used to keep a jar of homemade granola on our counter, always at the ready for topping yogurt or just for a quick snack. I started getting lazy though and stopped making it. Once I make this Sweet and Salty Granola, I remembered just how easy it is and I usually have all the ingredients on hand.

Easy Homemade Granola

Sweet and salty is one of my favorite flavor combinations. I don’t love overly sweet food, so a little salt thrown in is just perfect for appreciating the subtle sweetness in this recipe. Peanuts also make everything better, don’t they? You just can’t go wrong with this combination!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups quick oats
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 tbsp. butter melted
  • 2 tbsp. agave nectar plus more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. On a baking sheet, add a silpat or non-stick baking mat.

  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together oats, coconut, peanuts, and almonds. In a small bowl, add melted butter, agave nectar, salt, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk well to combine. Add half the butter mixture to the oat mixture and stir. Taste oat mixture and if you prefer it sweeter, add more agave nectar.

  3. Spread oat mixture in an even layer across the baking sheet and put in the oven. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and add the remaining butter mixture. Return to the oven for 10 minutes.

  4. Once done, remove from oven and let cool. Once cool, add the chocolate chips. Store in an air-tight container.
