This Easy DIY Pallet Clipboard Frame is so easy and inexpensive and makes a great frame for holding square art or photos!

Are you following along with our One Room Challenge progress? We are transforming our guest room into a nursery for our new baby girl in only six weeks! This is my first time joining in on the One Room Challenge and so far it has been fun, and not too stressful, yet!

Last week I shared that I am putting together a gallery wall for the nursery. When I began looking for frames for the square prints I ordered from Minted, I realized that the selection was really small. I only found one that I liked and it was too expensive so I decided to go the DIY route and make something myself.

One Room Challenge: Week 3 ProgressI love the rustic touch this brings to the gallery wall and the perfectly imperfectness of the hand painted lines! I used a very light stain to match these Pillow fort Bins from Target.

Easy DIY Pallet Clipboard FrameHere is all you need:

1 small square pallet ( I got mine at Michael’s)

palletframeOversized bulldog clip (Mine in the Heidi Swapp mint one)

Easy DIY Pallet Clipboard FramePainter’s Tape ( I am partial to Frog Tape Brand)

Wood Stain (I used Weathered Oak by Minwax)

Acrylic or Craft Paint in desired color

Glue

Command Strip or Saw tooth Hanger

Steps:
  1. Place tape on your pallet in your desired pattern. I did a stripe at the bottom and a chevron in the middle.

  1. Using a rag or a foam brush, lightly brush on stain. It dries almost instantly, but wait about 5 minutes before removing tape.
  2.  After removing tape, use another clean foam brush to paint on your paint. I brushed very lightly around the stain lines, but didn’t worry about the lines being too perfect.
  3. Let paint dry and then put glue on the back of your bulldog clip. I used super glue, but hot glue would work well too. Just use whatever strong glue you have on hand. I pressed it into position for a minute or two and then let the glue set.
  4. I am going to use a command strip to hang this, but if you prefer not to use those, attach a saw tooth hanger on the back.

And that’s all there is to it! This Easy DIY Pallet Clipboard Frame is easy and much cheaper than the expensive square frames I found at Michael’s. I spent about 4 dollars on the pallet and 3 bucks on the bull dog clip. The rest of the supplies I had on hand.

Check back on Wednesday for our One Room Challenge Nursery progress! It was a big week!!
