Christmas Cookie Dip

I love cheesy dips, but it is nice to have some sweet ones in your arsenal as well. The benefit to sweet dips is that they are served cold and are easily transportable if you are going to a party or event. And at Christmas time, everyone loves sweets! You have to try my cookies and cream dip too! It is perfect for holiday parties! I love my bright fiesta bowls for serving dip in. They are the perfect size and come in such fun colors!

Christmas Cookie Dip

I made this dip a few weeks ago when we were having some family over for dinner. I am embarrassed to admit that four of us put a hurting on this bowl of dip and then the small remaining amount became my lunch the next day! Would it be better if I told you I ate it with fruit? Maybe just a little bit better?

How to make Christmas Cookie Dip?

The addition of butter and flour give this dip its cookie batter like texture. It is smooth and creamy and tastes like you melted down a batch of sugar cookies! I started small with my amount of powdered sugar in this dip, but feel free to add more once you taste it, especially if you like things on the sweet side! I prefer mine on the tangier side! You can use either plain or vanilla yogurt. I prefer the vanilla, but you choose!

Can you eat raw flour?

This recipe was originally published in 2016 and I have to note that the addition of flour in this recipe is controversial. I have never thought twice about eating raw flour, but if you are concerned you can microwave the flour for 30 seconds to kill any bacteria before adding it to the dip. If you are super concerned, you can definitely leave the flour out. I did a lot of research and it does not seem like raw flour is a health concern at this time, but the decision is definitely yours!

Christmas Cookie Dip

This Christmas Cookie Dip is an easy holiday dessert recipe that your guests will love!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings 2 cups of dip

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Greek vanilla yogurt
  • 3 oz. cream cheese softened
  • 3 tbsp. butter softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4-3/4 cup powdered sugar plus more to taste
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/3 cup red and green sprinkles
  • gingerbread men cookies vanilla wafers, fruit, etc. for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl add the cream cheese, yogurt, and butter and then blend together with a hand mixer until light and fluffy. Add in 1/4 cup powdered sugar, flour, and vanilla. Blend again until well incorporated. Taste and add in more powdered sugar if you want a sweeter dip.

  2. Fold in the sprinkles with a spatula.  Stir very slowly and lightly so you don't melt the sprinkles. You may get streaks of color in your dip!

  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.

Recipe Notes

Note: This dip is on the tangier side due to the use of Greek yogurt. Add more sugar until it tastes as sweet as you prefer.

I have decreased the amount of flour used in this recipe by half. I use 1/4 cup in my original recipe, but after a few comments, I decreased it to 2 tbsp. If you want more of a cookie dough texture use the original amount of 1/4 cup.

    1. Yo can definitely use plain Greek yogurt, but you are going to want to add at least 2 tsp. of vanilla extract and you may also need to increase the sugar. I would start about at 1 tbsp. and then taste and see if you need more.

Why did the red and green sprinkles change the dip to a red color. I used the amount that was in the recipe and folded them in the dip with the spatula?

        Thank you.

        1. HI Gerry, you can see in my photo that the sprinkles left little red and green streaks, but did not change the color completely. It may have been the type of sprinkle you used or they may have been stirred too much. Either way, I hope you still enjoyed it!

    1. I’m sorry I do not! You could use lower fat yogurt and less sugar if you are worried about calories.

    1. absolutely! I recommend waiting to put the sprinkles in till right before serving though so it doesn’t bleed into your dip.
