$100 Room Challenge: Master Bedroom Edition     Happy New Year! I am so glad to be starting off the year in this really fun $100 Room Challenge: Master Bedroom Edition. I am joining with some great blogging friends to share how we transform a room with only $100 dollars! We will be completing the challenge during January and I am hoping you stick around for all the reveals! My friend Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry has been doing this challenge for a while now and I think it is just so fun. With some thriftiness, you can really stretch $100!

So I really debated which room to do. We have a few rooms that definitely need $100 worth of work and some rooms that need a much higher budget! I finally decided on our master bedroom, which is definitely “okay” but since no one really sees it, it is definitely neglected. I decided to give it a little love and see what I can do with a limited budget! Our master bedroom is actually two bedrooms that have been turned into one room. If you are new around here, our house is over 100 years old and has a ton of original features, like the wood work, wood floors, some lighting fixtures, and some really unique details. For this challenge, I am going to focus on the sleeping part of our bedroom, unless I am somehow able to stretch the money to the other side!

So here’s what we have on the “sleeping” side of the room. My husband’s closet. Our bed. And two nightstands.

I would love to add more color to the bedding.

We took the curtains down last year when we had our first to get them cleaned and the ones behind the bed never came back up!

$100 Room Challenge: Master Bedroom EditionI told you we had great original features, well the corner is a laundry chute! We actually don’t use it because clothes get stuck on a pipe in the chute and then someone has to climb in and pull them out! I would love to make this a more functional space.

So here are all the befores. I really am winging it here and don’t have a real plan so hopefully this room turns out alright!

Make sure to check out all my friends linking up below!

  1. You have a great space to work with. The wall color is pretty and wood work is great! Can’t wait to see the ‘after’! P.S. we used to have a laundry chute too! It was covered in the remodel but we used to love it as kids!

  2. I’m doing the master bedroom to and am not totally sure what I’m doing to I feel your pain. There’s also a laundry chute in my daughter’s bedroom closet which is odd but it does work but only she uses it. Looking forward to seeing your progress along with everyone else.

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one without a plan! I have no idea how I am going to do new nightstands with the budget!

  3. I think you can do a lot of great things with that budget. It is already a beautiful room, that wall color is so pretty! Man, I love old houses! They are challenging, but they have so much character.

    1. HAHA, it really is pretty funny. We have to climb it and bat it down with a stick! It was usually my underwear too all wrapped around the pipes!

  4. Do you live in the midwest? This room reminds me so much of my in-laws’ house with the wall cabinets and the laundry chute. I’d actually never seen a house with a laundry chute before theirs. Can’t wait to see what you do with the space!

    1. We are actually in the PA, I live in a really old and historic coal mining down with lots of really old houses!

  5. I am working on our bedroom too. You have a great space. Have you considered contact paper for the night stands? I love it. Comes cheap, has lots of color and texture options and you just remove it anytime you want. I used it to cover up our ugly headboard and bed frame before this challenge.

    1. haha!! my daughter doesn’t know ours exists, I’m afraid of what she would throw down it if she knew!

  6. Your home is so charming, i remember from the other home tours we did.. or was it the ORC. I love all the cute features in your bedroom! Yeah I be scared about the laundry Chute.

  7. I love old houses and this is such a pretty room already. It has a grand feel and I think new night stands will be a great bonus. By the way, twisted cords annoy me, too. Looking forward to watching this room progress.

  8. I have a very similar setup in my room. Same wall color and wood trim. There is no wall to put the
Bed against so it’s against a window like yours. I had a wood night stand and I spray painted it white. Quick and cheap update. My other night table is a wicker laundry basket

  9. What a great space to work with! Can’t wait to see it finished and what you are going to do with the laundry chute! So cool.

    1. Thanks Kathy! I am hoping to come up with something good before I run out of money!

  10. Oh this is going to be great! Although I had a plan it’s constantly changing so I may as well have not had one to begin with! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

  11. Lovely! I would drape the window behind the bed the entire width of the bed. I think that would make a more serene look in an already beautiful room.

  12. An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a coworker who has been conducting
a little homework on this. And he actually ordered me dinner due to the fact that I discovered
it for him… lol. So let me reword this….

Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending some time to discuss this issue here on your website.
