$100 Room Challenge Master Bedroom Closet Edition Week 1

Happy January! I am so excited to kick off this year with some of my favorite bloggers in the $100 Room Challenge! Started by Erin from Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry, bloggers transform one space in their home, in only 4 weeks, using less than $100! I have completed my daughter’s bedroom and our master bedroom for past challenges. I took a few challenges off but am so excited to join this group again! Erin has been doing some amazing work and the challenge was even featured on the Rachael Ray Show! It is crazy  to see what can be done on such a small budget! But it is definitely possible!

I am tackling my master bedroom walk in closet for this challenge. Are you ready to see some scary before pictures? This is what the closet has looked like since we moved in. I plopped my stuff into it and called it a day.

(FYI these are my original before pictures, I have made a few updates to my closet since I took these original photos)

And here is what the closet looks like right at this very moment

So here’s the problem, it is so unorganized. And it is not for lack of trying. I reorganize this space monthly and it just doesn’t stick. Despite trying to constantly get rid of items that I don’t need, somehow (wink wink) more clothing items just keep coming into the space and I can’t keep up! It is a never ending battle but I am hoping that I can whip this space into shape once and for all! So even though this is a design challenge, my biggest beef with this space is the organization, so that will be my main focus.

Last year, I added the jewelry hooks and painted the walls a fun coral color. My Dad also helped me eliminate some of the space problems by removing an upper hanging rack and cutting the space on the left in half. There were two hanging racks on both sides of the closet which made it impossible to stand in here and look for an item. So even though I lost half a clothing rack, I gained standing space, which was more important to me. I will show you those updated photos next week.

I am itching to get started on this space and cannot wait to see what progress I can make! First step is to purge, purge, and then purge some more! It is time to get serious about whittling down how much stuff I have! Check out all my friends who are participating in the challenge below!
