I am so excited to be partnering with Jeffrey Court Tile to compete in their six week renovation challenge! It is going to be a super fun challenge, with judging and voting, so I hope to have all of your support and votes! It is going to be a whirlwind of a six weeks and I am so excited to share what we have been working on!
Our traditional main bathroom remodel may be the most exciting remodel that we have done in our 100 year old home! The outdated blue and white tile has seen better days and the clawfoot tub is starting to chip. We are SO excited to get started on this project!

So here is what we have. An antique dresser turned vanity. I know these are very trendy right now, but ours is not in the best condition. The wood doesn’t seem to be properly sealed on top, and we have chipped wood and some mold around the sink. The worst part about this vanity though is the mirror. This mirror drives.me.crazy. It is too close to the sink and despite cleaning it nearly every single day, it is always splashed with toothpaste or watermarks.
The two sconces flanking the vanity are beauties too right? When we moved in, they were one of the first things I painted because they were shiny bright brass. The oil rubbed bronze finish makes them a little more bearable, but honestly, they need to go back to the 1950’s where they belong.

The toilet is brand new. We had an awful toilet when we moved in and it was one of the first things Ryan replaced. If you are in the market for a new toilet, this one is awesome. The toilet seat doesn’t slam when you close it and the flush is very quiet! Whoever thought I’d be analyzing toilets…oh well.
The clawfoot tub is a major source of debate. I know they are so beautiful and such a classic bathroom feature, but it is time for it to go! Cue the major GASP across blog world right now! Getting rid of a clawfoot tub is a major sin but I am ready to get this bad boy out of here! The plumbing would need to be completely replaced and the entire thing would need to be refinished because of lead paint. The cons far outweigh the pluses, so it is time to get rid of it.

Hi Amanda! I found you from Thrifty Decor Chick and have been checking out your blog. If you want to keep the original wood in your bathroom – maybe you can paint the blue walls a lighter color and paint the existing vanity a lighter color. That way it breaks up all of the wood. I love having wood accents in each room in my house but too much seems well…too much 🙂 Good luck and I can’t wait to see what you do with the space!

Thank you for stopping by Rosy! I will be stopping by your page as well! I am going to paint the blue paint a nice light gray I think to break up some of the wood. I agree with you that I love wood accents in a room, but sometimes, it can be too much! The rest of the wood work in our house is a beautiful oak with a pretty sheen…the wood in the bathroom is very dull, which makes me like it less!
Paint the wood and all the trim! Nothing looks cleaner and fresher in a bathroom than white! Are you planning on doing anything with the floors?
I have started painting and did the beadboard…still debating the trim! I agree with you though how fresh white trim looks! Right now we aren’t planning on doing the floors. It’s ceramic tile and is in good shape. It isn’t my favorite, but I can live with it until we can replace it with flooring that has infloor heating! I am thinking of repainting all of the grout though to freshen it up!
Wow! It looks like everything is in position now, without losing ambiance and aesthetics. Great work there! As long as the drains and pipes are set-up right, then you wouldn’t have any further problems that might undermine what you have built and laid out there. Well, if ever you encounter such problem, you can always get plumbing service to restore the whole thing back to how they’re all picturesque there. Thanks for sharing that! All the best!

You could put up the circle shower rods with shower curtain. Think it would really make a big difference in the looks of your room. I definitely would paint the woodwork and trim. All that wood makes it look like a cabin.

I like the vintage look of the bathroom. Especially with the tiles that are on the floor in there. I also like the idea of a dresser being turned into a vanity. I love DIY projects as much as my wife does so I think it is a fantastic idea that you came up with.
