DIY Rustic Industrial Sunburst Mirror from Upcycled Pallet Box

Rustic industrial is definitely my favorite decor look right now. I love dark wooden touches through the house, but with a touch of metallics and metals to keep it from looking too country or lodge-like.
This wooden and galvanized metal kitchen sign is my new favorite addition to our kitchen.

I have been slowly redoing our foyer and love this wooden and metal table that I put in the corner. It is the perfect blend of rustic and industrial.

To put the finishing touches on the foyer, I needed something for above the radiator. Because I love trash, my dad had recently given me this box wreath pallet frame.

My Dad knows me so well. He saw the pallety look of this wood and knew I would love repurposing it. It lived in my trunk for a couple weeks until I picked up a sunburst mirror from HomeGoods. I loved the mirror but wanted to add some rustic elements to it and also make it bigger so it would be a bigger focal point on the wall. So all I did was stain the box pallet with my favorite Minwax Dark Walnut, distressed the heck out of it, and then carefuly set the mirror inside. It is not attached in any way, but is secure because it is resting between the slats! I absolutely love the finished product! One of my favorite DIYs to date!

This little Instagram is another DIY from a really old screen and some twine!
I am so happy to have the foyer completely decorated…although I am really itching to repaint the walls, again. I love the grayish blue color I used, Cloudy Sky by Benjamin Moore, but I am really craving something lighter and brighter now, so we will see!

  1. How clever, to use packing materials which would just have been disassembled and discarded to give a starburst mirror a different twist. (Of course I have never met a starburst mirror I didn’t like!!!!!) Love this!
