DIY Burlap table runner

Now that Easter has come and gone and all the decorations are packed away, I have been slowly bringing back out my “all seasons” decor. Once I placed my decorations back on the radiator cover in our dining room, I knew it was missing something. I had previously set the decor on just a plain piece of burlap, which I used as a runner, but it just seemed too plain now. Enter my find of the week…

Chevron burlap
Colored burlap for 87 cents from Wal Mart!!
Walmart marked down all their Easter decor, which included this burlap in tons of different colors. Normally these rolls run anywhere from 4-5 dollars, so I was thrilled when I saw they were marked down so inexpensively. I knew these pretty aqua rolls would make a great colorful statement under my frames and vase.
I began by measuring the length of the shelf and adding 6 inches, which would give me a 3 inch overhang on both sides. I laid out the blue burlap and then the chevron. Once I measured my length, I took the strip of chevron burlap and cut it in half down the middle. Next, lay everything flat and line up your ends

I then hot glued my solid blue piece to the chevron every 6 inches or so down the edges. If I was being super particular, I would have hot glued the entire thing, but I wasn’t looking for perfection here!

Here it is all finished and I love how it turned out! It is just the right amount of color and looks great under my decor. Since it was so cheap and only took about 5 minutes to make, I can easily switch it out whenever I get tired of it!
