I don’t know about your family, but we go through endless supplies of peanut butter. I feel like I am buying a jar of Jif™ every week, but seriously, what isn’t peanut butter good on? Pretzels, crackers, toast, a spoon? Yes, all such delicious PB receptacles! There is nothing I love more than chocolate and peanut butter desserts, but although I am a pregnant, eating machine, I need to start cutting back on the calories before my doctor yells at me!
So maybe a few less desserts and maybe a couple more better for me smoothies? When I was pregnant with my first daughter, the doctor told me I needed to try eating a few less cookies and perhaps more fish. I was 36 weeks pregnant, super hormonal, and not happy with her “idea.” I think I cried right there in the doctor’s office. I am going to try and avoid that situation this time!
In a quest to find a better dessert like option for myself, I threw some of my favorite ingredients into my blender. These Peanut Butter S’mores Smoothies turned out even better than I imagined. The small pieces of marshmallow, the chocolate drizzle, and the graham cracker crumbs make this so filling and dessert like. But with Dannon Vanilla low-fat yogurt as a base and all the protein of peanut butter, I feel better about eating it and it has far less calories and fat than my favorite slice of chocolate peanut butter cake does! This is the perfect after school snack for your pb-loving kids or after dinner when you need something sweet before bed. Surprisingly, both chocolate syrup and marshmallow creme are fat free foods. They add the s’mores flavor to your smoothie but not additional fat. Sounds like a win-win to me!
See those beautiful little pieces of marshmallow? Don’t worry about them not blending in completely. The little chunks make this more s’more like!
Don’t spend the extra money to buy graham cracker crumbs. You can just mix them up in your blender right before you add your smoothie ingredients.
My blender has been getting serious amounts of use lately and I think it is time to upgrade! Our blender was a wedding present and we have certainly gotten our money’s worth! I have been eyeing up this Oster® Blend-N-Go®. You can just fill, blend, and go with this one! This would be so easy for making smoothies and taking with you to the gym.
The graham cracker crumbs on the cup are of course optional, but I think they make the drink look fancier! And I love getting the extra little bits of cracker with my sips!
I hope you try this Peanut Butter S’mores Smoothie soon! It is the perfect treat for breakfast, snack, or as a dessert replacement!
